I can already say that 2024 is going to be one of the most amazing years of my life, not only am I getting married to my best friend and partner, but we are planning the most amazing road trip for our honey moon and I can’t wait but is it impossible to plan a road trip? what things should I watch out for? what’s the best way to plan this? I’m going to talk about things I think we need to watch for and some places we are considering and then ask for some opinions at the end! I can’t wait to share this journey with you! Taking a road trip is perhaps one of the safest ways to travel right now. But before you start throwing suitcases into your car, there are some precautions I found that we might need to look into.

1. Research our destinations: we need to know what closures to expect, and if were going to a hiking or park spot we need to work into our budget the costs to get in. as with any event/ attraction. It would be a shame to drive several hours only to find the National Park you’re planning to visit is still closed. Put in more time researching than you typically would. 2. we are huge in going to small chains as opposed to large ones, another thing we might look into is Support local: As much as you can right now, try to support small and local businesses. These are the businesses that have likely taken the biggest hit in the past few years and could really use our support, lastly 3. pack! make sure everything is covered, we plan on waiting until a little after the wedding in February to take our road trip when its a little warmer, however we still need to plan for cold days, swimming stops, the possibility of not having somewhere to wash clothes, like if we don’t stop at hotels that much. and all the in-between, last thing we need is to realize we forgot something and have to buy something we need while on the road and remaining on a budget.

Next: what transportation is best?

Now with us I think we pretty much decided to take our Jeep, we got it for any off-roading we might have to do ( not sure if we will) and its big enough for us and all our stuff, without the need to rent a camper-van or RV. Only difference is we would have to pay for hotels along the way, which is another place we have to watch our budget choose hotels in cities that are on our route but a little off course, they tend to have lower rates because their not near major attractions. “ROAD TRIP TIP: If there are no or few must-visit attractions along your route, you can instead plan your road trip stops based on how much distance you want to cover each day, allowing you to work out suitable stops based on travel distance instead.” but us we have so many things planned, starting in flagstaff AZ, with the Grand Canyon, the Lava tubes, waterfalls!, Then heading over to Vegas baby!!! then San Diego, and possibly Universal studios, now there is definitely a lot to figure out still but those are just a few of the stops we KNOW we want to make and I know this is going to be an amazing journey! and I’m so excited to be doing this as our first trip together as newlyweds. In the end its the journey that matters! Does anyone have any comments on where you think we should stop, any hole in wall attractions worth the stops on the west coast?? is there anything were forgetting or should bring? what’s the best time of year to plan a road trip? what are your thoughts for the best road trip games? What are some favorite places you’ve been too. I can’t wait to continue planning and getting this all together! this years journey will be an amazing one! comment on some ideas!
