Remember when you were a kid and you thought being an adult would be fun? That’s a hilarious concept now isn’t it lol! That quote literally made me laugh out loud when I read it because it’s so hysterically yet painfully true!

As little kids we couldn’t wait to grow up…to be old enough to “do whatever we want,” and stay up late, and go to all the parties Then we get to be an adult and realize we rarely get to do what we want with all our adult responsibilities, we wish we could go to bed early, and we wish we didn’t have to attend so many parties or lets even go easier then that we wish we didn’t have bills. I remember saying as a kid, “I can’t wait to grow up dad, I’ll get to have my own money and do whatever I want without having someone constantly telling me what to do.” … Now all I want to do is see my parents not have bills and just live life as carefree as a kid could.

Yeah…that’s pretty much me today. I’m having that horrifying moment when I’m looking around for an adult but realizing I am the adult. However, I refuse to be an adultier adult just yet – that will have to wait until I turn 40 which means I’ve still got let’s just say a few years left to be just an adult – so YIPEEE for that!!!

Let’s be honest, it’s not that hard to find people that are better at “adulting” than me, and I mean that as sarcastically as possible and I’m only in my 30’s! I can’t sit still in meetings now any better than I did as a little kid. I can’t wait my turn in line any more patiently than I used to when I was young. I still go nuts over all things Disney just as much or even more now than I did growing up. And I still sneak around looking to see what present might be hidden away in advance of my birthday the same way I did when I was little, and either my boyfriend is a much better present hider than my parents used to be, or I’m just not as good of a seeker. But truth be told, I’m glad there is still a little bit of kid left inside me and I hope it stays that way no matter how many years old I am.

Kids, don’t be in such a hurry to become an adult before you can. As the song says, “you’re going to miss this. You’re going to want this back. You’re gonna wish these days hadn’t gone by so fast. These are some good times, so take a good look around. You may not know it now but your going to miss this.” Adults keep a little kid always inside of you, don’t be so serious all the time, smile, have fun, play in the pool and always remember, your kid version will forever be inside of you!
