If you haven’t already watched Ahsoka on Disney+, stop what you’re doing and hit play—well, unless you haven’t watched Star Wars Rebels. In that case, you might want to go binge all four seasons of that masterpiece first. That’s exactly what I did after getting halfway through the first episode of Ahsoka. I just had to understand all the background, and let me tell you, it was 100% worth it. Here’s the Ahsoka Disney Plus Review!
(In fact, I wrote a whole blog post about Rebels—go check that out here!)
A True Continuation of Rebels
Ahsoka isn’t just another Star Wars spin-off—it’s Star Wars Rebels: Season 5 in all but name. It picks up the threads left hanging in Rebels and weaves them into a beautiful, live-action continuation that rewards long-time fans while still being accessible to newcomers.
Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka
Rosario Dawson shines as Ahsoka Tano. We first saw her take on the role in The Mandalorian, and she’s only deepened her portrayal here. Dawson brings a calm intensity and wisdom to the role that perfectly captures Ahsoka’s evolution from her animated days.
Dave Filoni’s Star Wars Magic
The series is created and written by Dave Filoni, the mastermind behind Rebels and The Clone Wars. Filoni’s fingerprints are all over this, and thank goodness for that. His deep understanding of Star Wars lore and love for these characters make the storytelling feel authentic and layered. He doesn’t just write Star Wars—he feels it.
Animated Favorites in Live Action
One of the most exciting parts of Ahsoka is seeing animated characters brought into the real world. Natasha Liu Bordizzo plays Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead is Hera Syndulla, and Lars Mikkelsen returns as the menacing Grand Admiral Thrawn—a role he voiced in Rebels. This voice-to-live-action continuity is a real treat for fans.
Iconic Locations & Visual Easter Eggs
Filming took place in a variety of visually stunning and very Star Wars-esque locations. From ship interiors to familiar landscapes, the production is filled with visual callbacks to Rebels. If you’re a fan, you’ll love spotting the details.
Will There Be a Season 2?
No official word yet, but let’s just say the finale leaves a lot of doors open. I won’t spoil anything, but trust me—it ends in a way that demands more story. I really hope they continue it.
Final Thoughts
If you’re a Star Wars fan, this is a must-watch. If you’re a Rebels fan, this is your reward. And if you’re just stepping into the galaxy far, far away, Ahsoka is a great entry point—but don’t be surprised if you find yourself diving deep into the animated series afterward.
Have you watched it yet? Drop a comment and let me know what you thought. I’d love to hear your take—and fingers crossed for that Season 2 announcement.
Until next time, may the Force be with you!
